Test your knowledge of English Poetry Canon
Posted December 28, 2006on:
The Oxford University Press offered three little quizzes to test our knowledge of the poetry drummed into (some of) us in school, courtesy of Michael and Diane Ravitch (The English Reader). The second quiz is very easy but I found the other two a bit…testy. My excuse is that I only ever studied a fair collection of William Blake’s and Shakespeare’s poetry. Others were represented by one or two poems in an anthology and the rest was left to me to discover. Which I preferred really, I’m just overly defensive because my ego was bruised. Badly.
I’ll share my scores if you will. 😉
Quiz Four (Another!)
Nary a full score among them. Is it my fault no one taught me Emily Bronte? (Why is she given as a possible answer so many times? They did it on purpose. :grumpy: )
